The Pawn – Heritage & Classic British Comfort Foods

This heritage site was formerly the Woo Cheong Pawn Shop (和昌大押), Hong Kong’s Urban Renewal Authority restored the old building and leased it to the current tenant, The Pawn restaurant somewhere around 2008.

It is important due to being a Chinese heritage building in Hong Kong of which there are surprisingly few remaining. Dating back to between 1888 and the 1900’s the building was originally home to four shops and upstairs residences. The key tenant of those was the Woo Cheong Pawn Shop.

Today, The Pawn restaurant offers al fresco dining in a unique space across two floors, 1/F Botanicals Bar and 2/F Kitchen. The cuisine is modern British comfort food and a recommended dish is the Braised short rib on the bone.
