Horizon Plaza in Ap Lie Chau – Discount Brand Name Shopping
Here’s a place that you probably won’t read about in the tourist books or mags and for a long time it’s probably been one of Hong Kong’s best-kept shopping secrets.
Located quite some way from the tourist areas, is an old warehouse packed with BIG name brands at really great prices. Sound interesting, I’m sure it does.
Let me just start off that this shopping destination does have a slight drawback, in that it’s a special trip to get there (although, there is also a Prada outlet store nearby). It’s not accessible via metro, but regardless, if you’re bargain hunting it could be worth a look. More details on how to get there below.
The first thing you’ll notice on arriving is the Ferrari dealership packed with beautiful exotic vehicles. Walk down the side road past the Ferrari Dealer and you’ll find the entrance to Horizon Plaza, at first, you’ll think you’re in the wrong place, as there’s no shops, just a reception and two elevators. But this is it.
Grab a store guide from the reception counter and hit the elevator, depending on when you go the elevators can be busy. I found the easiest way was to go straight to the top floor and wind my way down via the stairs and elevators. In total there’s 28 floors and 200 or more stores.
The fashion outlets are packed with stock, and many items marked down to half their original ticket price. Why? Some lines are last seasons stock, maybe discontinued or surplus stock from the stores located in the Central/Kowloon and the high-traffic shopping malls across Hong Kong.
There are over 20 fashion outlets including Armani, Bluebell Fashion Warehouse, Diesel, Folli Follie, I.T Outlet, Joyce Boutique, Lane Crawford Warehouse, Polo Ralph Lauren Factory Store, Replay, Moiselle and more.
If you looking for furniture you’ll find loads of stores selling European designs, contemporary and even antique lines. Stores include Dickson, Indigo, Shambala, Zense, and many, many more.
There’s also outdoor furniture outlets, carperts and rugs, baby products/toys, pet store, a gourmet deli, Italian supermarket, wine cellars and a barbecue store.
What can you get there? Fashion, home-wares, imported foods.
Price? Big brands at discounted prices
